A DAY IN THE APPLE ORCHARD
A cider mill, fruit drying facility, pleasant community space, tool rental, and facilities for schools and kindergartens that want to learn to live in harmony with nature. This and much more is the goal of the Na Ovoce association, which aims to transform a neglected garden that has been lying fallow for many years.
Our one-day volunteer event will be the first step in this transformation. We will help revive the garden, create space for new plantings, and support the creation of a place that has the potential to serve hundreds of people in the area. Join us—even one day of involvement makes a difference! You will combine a good deed with a day spent in a fragrant orchard near the confluence of the Šárecký and Krutecký streams.
This one-day event is ideal for anyone who wants to try volunteering, doesn't have time for a whole weekend, or is looking for an opportunity to spend a meaningful day in the fresh air.
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING
The Na Krutci garden has been neglected for many years, and now it's time to bring it back to life. Depending on current needs, we will be doing various spring tasks: digging up old vegetation, removing self-sown trees, and landscaping. We will help clean up the garden and prepare it for planting flower beds, trees, and future community facilities.
The specific tasks will be determined based on the weather and the condition of the garden. In any case, you can look forward to a day in the fresh air and meaningful physical activity that has a real impact.
You don’t need any previous experience or skills to join – this event is open to anyone who’s ready to lend a hand!
SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAM
Volunteering isn't just about work. We'll spend time together, learn about the activities of the Na ovoce association (and there are many!), and share good food and drinks. The orchard's surroundings also offer a pleasant walk, and you can learn what Strýmka, Boikovo, and Vlaška are. We are still finalizing the specific program, but you can definitely look forward to a relaxed atmosphere and new experiences.

Na ovoce jis a non-profit organization that strives to revive interest in fruit trees and orchards in cities and the countryside. Through community activities, fruit picking, workshops, and mapping public fruit trees, they inspire people to learn to look at their surroundings with "edible eyes" again. They restore old orchards, plant new trees, and nurture people's relationship with the landscape. They are currently building facilities at the Na Krutci orchard in Prague, where they plan to establish a community cider mill, educational programs, and equipment rental.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
MEETING POINT
We’ll meet on Saturday morning directly at the event location. A few days before the event, you’ll get the exact time and address. Please let us know in the registration form how you plan to arrive – if you’re not sure yet, no worries. We’ll set up a WhatsApp group before the event to coordinate carpooling, shared train rides, or where to meet.
MEALS
We’ll provide snacks and a lunch. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know directly in the registration form.
WHAT TO BRING
- Warm work clothes suited for the weather (something you don’t mind getting dirty)
- Work gloves
- Warm, preferably waterproof work shoes or boots
- Water bottle
RETURN
After the work is done and we’ve cleaned up the tools, we’ll wrap things up and head home in the late afternoon or early evening. The exact end time will be confirmed before the event.
