FESTIVAL ORGANIZATION IN THE KRKONOŠE MOUNTAINS
We helped organize the Doteky Festival!
In mid-June, we headed to Horní Maršov, where—as has become our tradition—we helped the SEVER Environmental Education Center organize the Doteky Festival. Every year, this unique event brings together culture, art, crafts, education, and people who care deeply about nature and the place where they live.
On Friday evening, we learned about SEVER’s story and got to know each other, discovered more about the organization’s history and diverse activities, and, most importantly, discussed what awaited us over the weekend. From the very beginning, it was clear that an incredibly varied weekend lay ahead of us.
We kicked off Saturday by preparing the grounds—the courtyard and natural garden at the DOTEK House. We carried benches, set up children’s workshops and an educational trail, prepared the refreshment station, cleaned up the stage, and raked the cut grass… Then we divided up roles for the first few hours of the festival and found our stations. Some sold tickets, others helped at the refreshment stand, while still others led creative workshops for children, tended to the herb trail, or helped move equipment and gear for the performers. We took turns throughout the event, so everyone got to try whatever they wanted. Thanks to great teamwork, a good mood, and sometimes a bit of improvisation, the festival went off without a hitch, and we even had time to enjoy ourselves while working.
The occasional rain didn’t dampen our spirits or those of the visitors. And it may have even added to the magic of the closing concert by the punk band, where we really let loose and danced the day away!
On Sunday, we discussed our experiences over a fresh breakfast and then set off on a guided tour of the neighboring church. Recharged, we got back to work—we cleaned up the grounds and the DOTEK House, and even managed to restack a pile of wood.
A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers for their energy, willingness, and dedication throughout the entire weekend. We also thank our group leader Markéta for taking care of the group, ensuring everything ran smoothly, and handling all the situations that arose over the weekend. And last but not least, we thank SEVER and DOTEK for the pleasant collaboration, all their care, and the opportunity to be a part of this!

The SEVER Ecological Education Center aims to deepen responsible behavior towards nature and promotes sustainable living through educational programs and events. It offers programs for schools, educators, teacher training students, public administration employees, and the general public. Activities include teaching programs, seminars, consultations, and decision-making support.
