HELPING A COMMUNITY GARDEN
Step out of the city with us and spend your Saturday differently! We’ll dive into a day full of movement, meaningful work, and inspiring encounters. Together, we’ll support Pravý Hradec, an organization transforming an abandoned military site in Klecany into a thriving community garden. This space serves as a peaceful retreat for seniors from the local care home while also bringing together people of all generations.
You’ll not only get your hands dirty but also experience firsthand how volunteering can truly change the world around us. Join us and make your day brighter—for yourself and for others!
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We’ll grab hoes, rakes, and wheelbarrows and get to work! Our tasks will include gardening, maintaining green spaces, and clearing areas to make room for new and beautiful additions. Together, we’ll create a space that benefits the community and brings joy to all who visit.
No previous experience or special skills are required—this event is open to everyone willing to lend a helping hand!
ADDITIONAL PROGRAM
Volunteering isn’t just about work! Throughout the day, we’ll learn about how to establish a community organization from scratch, explore sustainable farming practices, and discover the secrets of eco-friendly beekeeping. And when the work is done, we’ll gather around a campfire, roast sausages, and chat with the locals about their vision for this unique community garden.
DATE: 26. 4. 2025
LOCATION:Dolní Kasárna 969, 25067 Klecany
Founded in 2007, Pravý Hradec takes its name from important archaeological findings confirming the existence of a Slavic settlement on the right bank of the Vltava River in Klecany. The organization’s mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages to connect and strengthen the local community.
Their Klíček center offers diverse programs, from art and education to sports activities, welcoming both children and adults. They also organize camps, excursions, anniversary celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings to foster social bonds.
A key focus of Pravý Hradec is supporting seniors, for whom they have established a community garden at the local care home. This space is open to young families as well, promoting intergenerational interactions and shared moments in nature.
