CONTINUING THE RECONSTRUCTION AT STUDIO ALTA

A group of volunteers gathered once again at Studio ALTA in Libeň, which is located in the building of a former manor brewery.

After a brief introduction, we got to work on the cleaning and preparatory tasks that are part of the ongoing renovation. Part of the team focused on carrying out the remaining dirt, stones, and pieces of old concrete from the basement to the garden, where everything was sorted and prepared for further processing.

A major part of the day was cleaning the garden—removing last year’s dry grass and leaves, weeding, pruning self-sown plants, and digging up smaller roots. Some volunteers set about dismantling the old roof insulation, followed by

cleaning the room and carrying the boards to the garden, where they were cut into smaller pieces. There were also “special tasks”: moving two plastic pools, breaking one cracked one into smaller pieces to be taken to the recycling center, and carrying steel beams down to the basement. Finally, we managed to mow the grass so the garden could breathe! Hard work deserves a proper snack—the pumpkin soup and pie from the girls at Alta were absolutely delicious and gave us a boost of energy.

At the end, we took a moment to look back at the results together—and there was certainly a lot to see. Tired but with a sense of satisfaction from a job well done, we said our goodbyes and headed home.
