ORGANISATION OF A GARDEN FESTIVAL

Do you want to get to know what life is like in a community centre and get involved in the preparation of the traditional Garden Festival?

Head to Červený Újezd at the end of August and get to know Villa Vallila. Together with their assistants, people with disabilities live a normal life here with everything that goes with it. Together they farm, create, improve the garden, have various hobbies and participate in the cultural life of the village.

Broaden your horizons and be part of a friendly community for a weekend. You will learn what an ordinary day is like here, but also the extraordinary, like the Garden Festival!

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO

On Friday, we'll help clean up the area called the "scrap room." Specifically, we will be sweeping, mopping, clearing cobwebs, and bringing seating up to the first floor. On Saturday, we will help set up booths, carry tables, and execute the actual festivities, such as selling snacks or the organization's products, washing dishes, etc.

Thanks to our help, the villa will be carefully set up and the festival will run smoothly thanks to plenty of helpers.

You don't need any previous experience or skills to get involved - this event is open to anyone who is willing to lend a hand!

ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

The weekend event won't just be about work. There will be space to enjoy the festival itself, and on Sunday we'll learn all we can about the organisation and, depending on our taste and the weather, head out into the surrounding area. We may explore a nearby castle or monastery.

DATE: 30. 8. – 1. 9. 2024

ADDRESS: Červený Újezd 32, 257 88

L´Arche Villa Vallila, z.ú.

The organization strives to enable people with disabilities to live a full life in the natural conditions of the human community and for this purpose they run the Villa Vallila community house in Červený Újezd near Votice.

In 1997, the association bought a dilapidated villa there and transformed it into a community house, where people with intellectual disabilities now live together with their assistants. Thanks to living in the community, people with disabilities can be a full part of society, they have sheltered housing and social therapy workshops where they practice their work skills. Many of them work in regular jobs.
