BUILDING AN ANIMAL SHELTER IN POLIČKA
Join us for a meaningful weekend in Eastern Bohemia! This October, we’re heading to Lezník near Polička, where Spolek Štístko is slowly but surely building their dream sanctuary for abandoned and injured animals. Together, we’ll roll up our sleeves and help turn an unused space into a safe and loving home for animals in need.
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING
We’ll be cleaning the area and preparing the future dog enclosure – moving stones, sorting materials, organizing wood, and getting the terrain ready. Every wheelbarrow and sorted screw means more time for the local team to care for their animals. Thanks to your help, this dream shelter is one step closer to becoming reality.
You don’t need any previous experience or skills to join – this event is open to anyone who’s ready to lend a hand!
SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAM
In our free time, we’ll explore the historic town center of Polička. In the evenings, we’ll play table football or ping pong at the lodging. On Sunday, if there’s interest, we can visit Svojanov Castle or hike up to the Prosíčka rock formation.

Spolek Štístko was founded in 2022 out of a deep desire to help abandoned and injured cats – and since then, they’ve already helped dozens. In addition to caring for kittens and sick cats, the founders also carry out animal rescues, cooperate with municipalities and wildlife rescue centers, and help track down lost pets. They’re currently working on building a cat and dog shelter right next to their home – including a veterinary and quarantine area to ensure the best care for the animals. Their mission is to improve the welfare of animals in need and help them find a new, safe home.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
ACCOMMODATION
We’ll be staying in a cottage near the event site. There will be beds with duvets, a hot shower, and a flush toilet available.
MEETING POINT
We’ll meet on Friday evening at the accommodation. A few days before the event, you’ll get the exact time and address. Please let us know in the registration form how you plan to arrive – if you’re not sure yet, no worries. We’ll set up a WhatsApp group before the event to coordinate carpooling, shared train rides, or where to meet.
MEALS
Meals will be provided throughout the event, except for Friday dinner. We may share the preparation of breakfasts and dinners. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know directly in the registration form.
WHAT TO BRING
- Warm work clothes suited for the weather (something you don’t mind getting dirty)
- Work gloves
- Warm, preferably waterproof work shoes or boots
- Personal hygiene items, towel
- Water bottle
- Friday dinner
RETURN
After we finish work and clean up the tools on Sunday afternoon, everyone will head home. The exact end time will be confirmed before the event.
