EXPANDING HISTORIC PASTURES NEAR LIBOCHOVICE

Join us in restoring places where rare plants still have a chance to thrive. In mid-September, we’ll head out to the countryside between Libochovice and Poplze, where the local organization Jestřábník has been caring for historic pastures and restoring their natural value for over a decade. Thanks to their long-term efforts, open habitats are re-emerging in places where endangered species like Astragalus exscapus and Carlina acaulis once bloomed. Now you can play a role in their revival too.

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING

We’ll help expand pastureland that has disappeared over time due to the spread of invasive shrubs. Our work will include cutting back brush, pulling branches, raking grass, and clearing debris. The tasks are moderately demanding, but we’ll work at a friendly pace and as a supportive team.

You don’t need any prior experience or skills to join – this event is open to anyone who’s ready to lend a hand!

SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAM

In the evenings, we’ll relax together over a grill or a cauldron, depending on the group’s mood and appetite. And since this whole effort is backed by years of experience, we’ll also listen to a short presentation about what long-term care for protected landscapes involves – and why it’s worth the effort. If the weather isn’t kind, we might visit the local castle or head to the swimming pool in Libochovice.

The main language of the event will be Czech.
