THE ROOF FOR ANNA

Join us on a weekend trip to the border region and get involved in the crucial moment of the restoration of St. Anne's Chapel in Olešná. This important historical monument in the former Sudetenland, designed by Antonín Victor Barvitius, has been facing the ravages of the weather for years. Together we will prepare it for roof repairs. 

With our help, the chapel will be ready for the next stages of restoration that will restore it to its former glory and bring it one step closer to becoming a center of culture, art and gathering. 

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO

We'll be flexing all our muscles carrying bricks, handling old beams and working the woody debris around the chapel. If you have a fear of heights or prefer to be on the ground, we'll choose a job that suits you.

You don't need any previous experience or skills to get involved - this event is open to anyone who is keen to put their hand to work!

ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

We will tour the chapel including its surroundings and learn about the significance and history of the site. Evenings will be spent getting to know each other and sharing stories from work and life.

Zachraň Annu, z.s.

Zachraň Annu organisation is an association of friends who have come together to save the Chapel of St. Anne in Olešná. With the help of volunteers, they are building a vibrant space for culture, artistic creation and community-building events.


WHAT YOU ARE GUARANTEED AS A VOLUNTEER

  • accommodation according to the duration of the event,

  • event organisation and a leader to take care of the group on site,

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

ACCOMMODATION

We will stay in the organization's house, where there are three large bedrooms with mattresses on the floor, one large bathroom and a large kitchen. There will be a hot shower and a flush toilet.

MEETING POINT

We will meet on Friday evening, April 12, at the venue. Time to be confirmed just before the event.

FOOD

Food will be provided for the duration of the event with the exception of Friday night dinner, we will bring our own. Any dietary restrictions will be addressed with you by the leader prior to the event.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Weather appropriate work clothes (such that you can get dirty),
  • work gloves,
  • warm, ideally waterproof work boots,
  • sleeping bag,
  • a drinking bottle,
  • Friday night dinner,
  • personal items (hygiene, towel),
  • slippers.

RETURN

On Sunday we will go home in the afternoon. We will specify the time before the event.
